MessageCroft,
We will be leaving Texas to drive to Guatemala the middle of July. I have been a reader and followed your many trips back and forth in Mexico. Where do you suggest we cross the border. No trailer, just a SUV loaded with whatever we will need to live for a while in Guatemala. We will be needing to stop at hotels for the nights, and I thought you might suggest a good route.
Also, do you carry a machete for protection? Or anything similar? How about bribe money? How much do you suggest to have on hand?
Thanks.

MessageHi Croft,
we are friends of Les the Mexico kid
We are currently in San Miguel and I just showed Hans(owner of Weber's RV park) your bad news post.
He tells me that if you get in trouble on the toll road (couta) they have insurance to cover their loss but it must be reported at toll station.

Please send me your email address so that I can share another problem we had we local police in Choulula on Mon Feb 27 2012

MessageI've come across the Croft byline on other blogs in their comments, found you I guess..

I have not read through your past posts yet, it looks like it goes back for years.

I see your down on the southern border of Mexico's far east, I was through there back in 82. I was wondering if you knew much about the Reo Bec ruins. I've been into Calakmul, the new toll road was sweet. I hope to be in that area next November/December for some back country ruins(rio bec)if it's not too wet. Anyway, I'll read through your blog. take care, norm kwallek
