MessageFelipe,
Hey, I recently found your blog and I'm very impressed by your thoughts and comments about Mexico and your little Ranchito. That has been my dream: build a little ranchito and live in Mexico-Morelia. But career -- School Teacher -- and lifestyle have made it very difficult for me to achieve my dream. Nonetheless, the dream is still alive, and I'm hoping that some day I too will be able to accomplish it and do what you have been able to do for the last 10 years. Keep on writing about Patzcuaro and your Ranchito so that I could continue to strive towards achieving my lifelong dream -- and move to Morelia. Sincerely,
Joe Valencia (Note from Felipe: Thanks. Keep in mind that you can live here very cheaply. It´s the best thing about Mexico.)

MessageFelipe, where have you been all my life? I've just discovered your writing and love your stories. Especially your first ten years in Mexico and advice to step to the ledge and jump. My husband and I are just at that point. I think we need a push! (Note from Felipe: Been right here Angeline, nowhere else. Now get out there and leap.)

MessageI always enjoy stopping by for a read. You truly do have a talent for relating even the most mundane in an entertaining manner. May your ink flow freely and your dreams know reality. (Note from Felipe: Most of our lives are mundane, so it´s good to put a positive spin on things when possible. Thanks for the compliment.)

MessageYou are amazing! And I've forgotten your REAL name . . . but have read you on/off since way back when (Mex-Connect). And you were very kind to me when I went through a meltdown 3.5 yrs ago on selling a house in E. TN. My hubby & I are still living in Alabama -- but the working life is running out -- he's retiring in two weeks and who knows what lies ahead . . . LIFE, I hope!

Anyway, just to echo the others' praise. Your writing is so lean and eloquent. It makes me cry; it makes me jealous; it makes me grateful. Thank you for it. Ellen (Note from Felipe: Thank you very much, Ellen.)

MessageSenior Felipe,
I have been reading your blog for more than a year,
I always keep silent but read comments.
Your stories are greatly appreciated.
Please keep writing more to keep us up in the cold days, and bring us more warmth of your heart.

Your stories steer my dreams and give me more points to appreciate life and retirement years.

Your blog gives a unique look at Mexican retirement, with it ups and downs:
I am trying to model some of my back yard outdoors with settings similar to your Patio.

I really liked how you positioned your Alamo wall, to keep your yard private and nice looking.
Your house and backyard photos are greatly appreciated too: a picture is worth a thousand words. I only wish your blog pictures were bigger in size.

Thank you very much and please keep writing.

-Dmitry (Note from Felipe: Dang, Dmitry, you´re really making me feel good. If you want to see more photos, I have a Facebook page under my real name.)

MessageGreat site... keep up the good work. I read a lot of blogs on a daily basis and for the most part, people lack substance, but I just wanted to make a quick comment to say I'm glad I found your blog. Thanks.

MessageThe enjoyment and insight I get from your writing creates a life of its own, I always walk away smiling and a bit more knowledge of life in Mexico. Maybe someday I'll paint in Mexico.
Thank you. Ann
