MessageHello, Mr. Tee Don! I know it's been a long time coming since I have said I needed a new rubboard. I'm a 25 year old percussionist in Upstate New York. My current one that I have been playing for the last 3 years is handmade out of galvanized aluminum. It's pretty rugged, but it gets a nice, gritty sound to it that I like and that's perfect for my bands' sounds. It was a random instrument to pick up, as I've played percussion for a number of years, but I saw it hanging on a friends door and decided to try it out. I had an instant groove and tried it out in a band I had never played with before. I became a full time member of this band and our sound has developed into something that can only be described as "carnival folkabilly" or something to that extent. I beat the crap out of that board and was in the market for something new to scrub on, where I was led to you. I spoke with Tara Nevins of a band called Donna the Buf! falo in upstate New York. I checked it out and I knew I had to have a board made by you! So, here I am, ordering me up a Custom 22 Gauge and I cannot wait to strap it on and hear my new sound! Thank you so much for doing what you do and keeping the joy of music alive and inspiring to those who never would think to put a rubboard in a rockabilly swing band.

Cheers,

Ty Whitbeck

MessageMy name is Josey Harlan. I own #1312 rub board. My niece Lala Guindon
From Gulf Port bought it for my 70th Birthday.
I am going to play it in a Show called the Fab. 50's in Titusville Fl.
April 1,2, &3rd
The song is The Battle of New Orleans. I am hoping to do you proud.
I wish you had a dvd to help me learn better. I have dail-up Internet so
it takes to long to down load what you show on your web site.

Thanks for making life happier for a lot of people. Music show love, and
that is what makes the World a better place to live. Take care,
Sincerely, Josey(Wales) Harlan

Messagesmilie Hello Tee Don! I believe I have seen a Key of Z Rubboard the music was so catchy I had to stop and tap my feet. Some kind of Cajun music? I don't remember but my Mom bought a cassette of theirs, and I will ask her if she still has it. Your website is so interesting, I loved your pictures, thank you for sharing! You hold a unique place in American Music History, thank you for donating two Key of Z Rubboards to the Smithsoanian Institution, how cool is that! smilie

MessageHey Tee Don, I've had my Z board for a couple of years now and just wanted you to know that this thing really kicks ass. All of my fellow scrub board players and musicians are envious of my board. They need to get a Z-board. Thanks for your commitment to producing these awesome instruments, Take care, Kent Barrett, Quincy, CA

MessageDon,I am a member of the Orchard Park Lions Club located in western New York. As such, I have had the pleasure of speaking with your brother Charlie on many occasions, but until yesterday I didn't know that he had his roots in Cajun country. I graduated from LSU in 1970 so now we've found some other areas of common interest: our love for Louisiana and zest for Zydeco music.Your web site is great - keep up the good work! Mike Merritt
