MessageHey Gary...surprised by your note last night.

I was in the medical group from 53-55 where I drove an ambulance and covered the flight line. Many fond memories of that place, both town and base.

Discharged Sept '55 and went back to school on the GI bill.

Returned to Miss 10 years ago to live here with my Baton Rouge lady.

MessageHi Robert, thanks for posting to my GAFB Guestbook.

I guess class 53C, meant you were there in 1953?? If so, were you training under the civilian contractor?

I came there in the spring of 1953, and it was several months before the military took the base back.

Not that the military, was not there before and in charge, but the base was operated by a civilian contractor.

All new furniture was purchased and moved into the cadet barracks sometime in mid 1953.

I was part of the Air Installations squadron and helped with the moving of furniture.

I was discharged at GAFB in August of 1955 (end of my 4 year enlistment).

Have you been back to Greenville? Also, what or where is "Willie" you mentioned.

We have been having a GAFB reunion each year in October, in Greenville,

but due to the economic situation, that is uncertain for this year.

Thanks again for your posting.......................gary smilie

MessageI was a Cadet in class 53C at Greenville and loved
every minute of it but wouldn't want to do it again.
Went on to Willie for Jet training. Couldn't have
had two better training bases.

MessageHello everyone. I just want to say that I have corrected the return link on this Guestbook, to the new server. I had failed to recognize in moving the web pages that this link still referred back to the old page with advertising. Hope you enjoy the web pages and as time permits, I will be adding more content. But right now, I need to get into my taxes. smilie

MessageHey, Gary ~ great site. I'm a member of the Class of '59. My sister, Miriam, graduated in '53, and brother, Ralph, graduated in '57. I'm a retired professor of music living in Orlando. Miriam lives in Hot Springs (gets postings from Tuby)and Ralph lives in Tullahoma, TN.(retired NASA engineer). My passion is genealogy. As such, I have a few old pictures of Greenville scanned somewhere (especially of the '27 flood era)that I'll be happy to send you if you're interested. Let me know.

Again, thanks for your hard work. The site looks great!

P.S. My sister dated a pilot who flew T-38's (is that the jet?). Rumor has it, he was one of the mavericks who flew (with a wing mate)under the Greenville bridge. Do you know if that was ever done, to your knowledge?

The best to you and yours.
Larry Graham
