| Message | Although it's wonderful to hear all the stories , and I am a history buff and think Henry River is beautiful, we must remember that the mill employed children in the early days, before the law was enacted to protect them. They worked from six in the morning to six in the evening without overtime pay or any benefits. They earned buttons which could be spent like money at the company store, which made the owners very wealthy. I am for the preservation of this historial site and so glad it has not been destroyed. |
