| Message | Dear Mr. Nabors, Many years ago you knew a lady named Sally Riggs. She was my aunt and I actually got to meet you. It was so very long ago and I was too young to remember details. I don't know if you remember my aunt but she always talked highly of you. She passed away December 2, 2006 from renal cell cancer. Whenever your name is mentioned I always think of my Aunt Sally and you. Don't know why, must have stuck in my little pea brain for some reason. I used to spend hours listening to your records singing along with you and dancing. Lately, you have been on my heart and mind a WHOLE lot. I have taken advantage of the internet to send you this note to let you know you are still a very special person to so many people. May God continue to bless you and keep His hand on you. | Message | Keep celebrating the birthday, Jim! Do hope it was a wonderful one. Is anyone else staying at the Lancaster Host Resort? If so, could you give a shout out! It takes me 3 flights to get to Lancaster from Indianapolis, but it's for a good cause, so I look forward to seeing many of you there. Off to California for 10 days, leaving this Wednesday (dreadfully early hour of the AM), back very early on Saturday morning the 26th. Hope that this finds everyone doing well. | Message | I first met Jim Nabors on the Andy Griffith Show when I was a boy. His character, Gomer Pyle, was excellent. Mayberry and it's inhabitants reminded me a lot of the fishing village in England where my life began. Every small community has its characters. I also enjoyed Jim's character, Gomer Pyle, USMC. I don't think I ever missed an episode of neither the Andy Griffith Show nor Gomer Pyle, USMC. It was much later that I discovered Jim's singing talent and appreciated his rendition of many of the old hymns. I am very happy to discover that Jim is still going on. God bless you. |
