| Message | In addition to my being disposable and at the bottom of the pay scale (which is why they have a veteran driver sit - the veteran driver is more expensive miles), drivers are hired for that Federal Subsidy money these companies get for hiring drivers. It's a per head thing ($5,000.00 to $15,000.00 are the figures I have heard for each hire), and once they have the subsidy money that is supposed to aid the carrier for things like the promised tuition reimbursement, training expenses - etc., they find a way to pocket the money and keep the flow of drivers coming in the front door, and out the back. DRIVERS ARE NOT IN SHORT SUPPLY. Not in this high unemployment market. Drivers are NOT needed. What is needed is the Federal Subsidy they recieve for hiring. Simple. As for drivers who intend to quit once they have their year in: DO NOT believe for one second that just because you leave accident free - etc. that your DAC will not be ruined. Werner (and other carriers as well) will ruin that DAC, and/or not give you a recommendation when another carrier calls Werner for a reference. In this day of the ease of getting drivers because of unemployment being so high, carriers like Werner are showing their true colors - their uncaring about anyone but themselves and their money. Where my CDL is concerned, NO ONE will run me in any way contrary to what is in the F.M.C.S.A./D.O.T. guidelines. Especially when CSA 2010 is making things hard enough as it is to keep your job. |

| Message | Here's a few things to chew on: How about a training program that insists you log contrary to what is in a Federal book? Now I know it is common practice to log off duty just because the truck wheels are not turning and you're not being paid to save on your 70 hour clock. But my trainer INSISTED that logging OFF DUTY was mandatory when waiting for a load or unload. Sorry, I do not ace exams because I am stupid or do not read. The F.M.C.S.A. clearly states that unless you are relieved of all duties and responsibilities for the truck and cargo, you are ON DUTY - NOT DRIVING. I logged as such while training, and as a first seat driver after training. The result: I had everything thrown at me possible to get me terminated. uch as being told I was idling the truck when I was not. Given loads I had barely enough time to run - even WITHOUT a break of any sort (I was told by my DM JD Hodgestradt I was being run the way I was because of how I logged - which I reiterate was LEGAL by Federal guidelines). Down for a simple repair a total of 15 days at 4 terminals. The list goes on and on. And all because I as a new driver logged by a Federal guideline - who can take my CDL away. The end result is I was fired for late loads and a bad attitude because I would not follow unwritten policies they have no right to make. But then I was supposed to be a stupid new driver who knows nothing - including when he's being taken advantage of because he's disposable. |

| Message | Werner does suck and makes all trucking companies carry a bad rep. I could say a lot more but I have read all the posts and they pretty much covered it. |

| Message | sadly, what is written here is true. i am living it now. when my anniversary date arrives i am out of werner. my pay has declined steadily, i have been misled regarding opportunities within werner, miles are unpredictable at best. so many empty promises i can't count them. i am a trainer. my record is spotless and i am considered good at what i do. and the reward for doing a good job for werner is.... not there. you just get more of the same. the goal now is to be patient for the short time remaining and just get out with no damage to my reputation and/or DAC. |
