MessageHi Mike, I am the granddaughter of Reginald Favager, my mum Elaine is his youngest daughter - and I was absolutely thrilled to find your website and the fantastic tribute to the crew you have made. I never met my Grandfather but I have seen and read his diary and have a real passion for the history of WW2 and proud that his memoirs can be shared with others.
Thank you again
Catherine x

MessageMike thanks for your great site and memorial to your father.
My father Hubert H Skinner has just passed away, aged 97. Between May and September 1944 he completed a full tour of 30 missions from Wichford as a navigator in Lancasters- mainly in Lancaster A4-J. (HK660?)
The rest of the crew were:-
Pilot: P. Franklin;
Bomber: S. Docicester;
Wireless Operator: E. Martin;
Rear Gunner: J Doering (RCAF);
Mid Upper Gunner: R Bayley;
Flight Engineer: F Rutter.

When you see the statistics, he and the crew were fortunate to survive!
Mike's effort to record his father's experiences set me a challenge to do the same for mine, perhaps!

Bob Skinner

MessageDear Sir: I was born Dec. 6, 1943. My dad was a Tail End Charlie on a Lanc. He survived the war, but I was told that not many men, who were tail end gunners, did. This is why I go to the rememberence day service every year. I will not forget the men who did not come back, for the rest of my life. Anything I can do for your organization, let me know. Sincerely, Robert S. Green, Nova Scotia Canada

MessageWhat an incredible account you've assembled here, Mike. An amazing snapshot of your dad's wartime efforts.
I truly feel humbled by these brave crew for putting their lives on the line day after day - what a sad loss of such young lives.

MessageMike. I had a good look at the photograph of the camp internees on the red cross section and I am sure that the taller of all the guys in that photo is my father. I know it is not a clear photo but I am certain it looks so much like him.

Is there a chance of getting a copy of the actual photo?

MessageA very interesting website. My Father was shot down a week later whilst seconded to the RCAF and he was interned in Heydekrug, Thorn and Fallingbostel. He was flight Sergeant Peter McLuskie from 433 Squadron. Only 3 of his crew survived after they were shot down during a raid on Berlin, over the village of Legden near the Dutch border. It was the night of the 24/25 March 1944 and it just so happened to be the same night as the great escape from sagan occured.

MessageI am the sister of Reg Favager and Victor Favager.I also served in the WAAF. I am now 90 years of age. Reg's diary was very interesting to me, I remember well the shock our mother had when notified that both of them were missing, and how glad we all were to eventually learn that Reg survived. This account of his days in the POW camp I have never seen before. I do have a copy of his diary beginning March 15, 1944 at the time the aircraft was hit.
