| Message | Greetings; I was born and raised in Mineola, Texas and joined the Methodist Church there but do not remember the date. I left Mineola in late 1950, came back briefly to work at the Dr Pepper Bottling plant and then volunteered to go on active duty (already in the Naval Reserve under Cdr. Carraway)during the Korean War. Released to inacative duty in '53, and after working for Murdock Lead and Klein and Vaughn drilling Co. in Dallas, was hired at the new General Motors plant in Arlington, Texas from which I retired after 38 years. I was a Junior Clerk and left there a Quality Assurance Engineer/Foreman after being in Warren, Mich. at the GM Tech. Ctr. for two years, helped do the prototype on the Chevy Caprice and Buick Roadmaster. Then, I was loaned out to the Willow Run plant, moved to Ann Arbor for about 4 months. I got to fly home to Colleyville, Texas every two weeks to be with my wife, Nancy and one remaining daughter, Heather Bogan, at our home. Nancy could fly up on my ticket if I didn't come home and we had three really nice vacations in Canada, the upper peninsula, Mackanac Island, Niagara Falls, and Traverse City, Michigan. We made the best of the separtion and really enjoyed the beautiful state of Michigan. I worked 10 hours a day and 8 hours on Saturday's for those first three years, then normal hours at Willow Run. Quite an experience for an old country boy from Wood Co.. Thanks for letting me write the story. Patrick H. Bogan jr. |
