MessageBoth my greatgrandfathers lived in wood county and were conscripted into stones regiment 2nd partisan calvery in march 1863. Their names were Archibald Faulconer who died either on the march to arkansas or in arkansas about sept 1864, & Dr. charles harrper. Dr. harper survived. Archibald wrote 3 letters to his wife virginia which mentions where they were and some of the men that were with them.I can trace many of the battles from microfish at cornel university because of the letters. This regiment was continuously involved in fighting from march 1863 until the battles at mansfield, louisiana. I will try to submit the letters and some correspondence pertaining to the fighting this unit was involved in. They were a brave and fierce fighting regiment, serving under General Thomas Greens division. batteling battleships that were on the mississipi and atchafaliea rivers.
