| Message | Ings, I am still crying with laughter. In the Caribbean these sexist comments grate on you because of there frequency and daring. I remember my sister, all 6'tall of her refused to acknowledge the giver of one of these obtuse "compliments". The tone of de brudder swiftly changed and he shouted back "Arright Lam-pose doh take mih on!!".
I have to admit by comparison in rural Surrey, there is absolutely no such colour and texture so I do miss the creativity of the similies in these forward "compliments".
The most animated greeting one could ever hope to receive from either male of female folk in these parts is that odd generic grimmace one assumes is a smile..you know the one..it startes and finishes in a flash.
My dear husband 20 odd years later still toots his horn and pelts big waves grinning at neighbours who panic at his lively caribbean way, hoping to God that they are not seen so that they don't have to acknowledge him with the same degree of enthusiasm.
At least there is brutal honesty in those sexist outbursts. What really puts a smile on yuh face, that daring idiot or the patronising double air kisser. In the Caribbean it is in yuh face, in these "developed parts"...the degrading sexism is disgused in one of those gross FWD emails riduculing the female anaotomy...Same difference to me.
