MessagePaul.. Thank you for your compliments about the OBB webpage. It's still a work in progress as newer information is coming up.

Terry.. Regardless of how any of us feels about different colored Boston Terriers, they aren't going anywhere and I would rather see folks get their act together and breed responsibly for them, despite the color, instead of irresponsibly breeding them. The responsible folks who are breeding for them consider them a separate breed from the BT, formed a breed club and have a written standard for them. What they're doing is similar to what the White Shepherd folks did.

As far as the reasons why these colors were disqualified is pure speculation. I've many BT history books and none of them give exact reasons as to why these colors were not allowed. *I* believe it may have to do with expression but again, that's speculation.

And as far as Rudy goes, according to his pedigree, he is a black and white Boston Terrier and as far as Dylan goes, he is not a different color Boston Terrier. Dylan is officially known as "Multi Biss Ch. Sunwoods Lamburgini" and *I* think he's an excellent representative of the breed.

MessageRudy was not a black and white Boston! The forefathers of the breed didn't want reds, liver or mouse (gray) for a reason and a very old, long time breeder seemed to think it was skin issues like in the red and blue dobes! Who knows but they, the forefathers, should be respected. If you think the pictures of the off colored BT's you posted are of good quality your wrong, Dylan has a wrinkled forehead and not the "God Love it" expression of the classic BT.

MessageGood analysis of the Boston bulldog. I agree with much of the analysis that both were part of the same original breed that diverged based on size. The larger variant is more muscular than the terriers of today and likely had more old english bulldog/boxer blood thus explaining the broader chest. If you look at those older pictures versus the extinct English breed and boxers you see similarity.
I actually like the old style large boston terrier/bulldog but none of the new breeds really looks like it. I think if you bred a boxer with the Boston terrier you would get the size back.

MessageHello Melissa..

I'm sorry it took long for me to respond to your post as I just noticed it but to answer your questions.. I do not have anything against the Olde Boston Bulldogge. I'm quite surprised that's the impression you got from my OBB webpage. Quite the contrary, the reason I wrote it is because irresponsible people are irresponsibly breeding dogs and are conning people with false information.

I think I explained myself quite clearly on my web page regarding the fallacies of the OBB, the history of the Boston Terrier and the OBB and how a person should go about acquiring an OBB(from those who are breeding responsibly in order to get the OBB to breed true to type and are working to get the breed recognized by a reputable kennel club) and I would think that anyone who is serious about the breed and/or is responsibly breeding OBB's would see that.

With that said, I did post a disclaimer at the bottom of the page stating that I did not know the owners/breeders of some of the dogs on the page. I gave credit to those who gave me permission and posted links to where the pictures originally came from. If you do know the owner(s) of the dogs on the page, please have them contact me and I will remove the pic(s) if they wish.

MessageHi, I own an Olde Boston Bulldogge. It's actually quite surprising to me that you have been allowed to post this information on OBB's on your site. Are you angry that people are so fond of OBB's? Is that why you have taken it upon yourself to put down the breed? You have shown pictures of dogs and have not credited the owners or the breeders and yes, I happen to know one of the dogs you posted. The first OBB is Jasmine of O'Klassic Kennels and she is the mother of my OBB Mighty. I will be contacting O'Klassic Kennels to let them know you have used a picture of Jasmine to put down the breed. If you love Boston Terriers then all the power to you but there is no need to put down other breeds trying to prove some ridiculous point. smilie

MessageQuerida Rosy,

Muchos abrazos
Sinceramente,
Myriam
