MessageHi Alexandra Mastej and welcome. I'm not an expert in this field but you should consider training in your country, America is it?, and then apply here to work as a nurse. This link may help:

www.immi.gov.au/skilled/medical-practitioners/nurses.htm

If you're not inclined to go that way, each of our states have a training programme and as I live in New South Wales, the NSW Nurses and Midwives Board may be able to assist further. Their details:

www.nmb.nsw.gov.au/

Another contact:

Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council Incorporated at

www.anmc.org.au/

As for moving to Australia, the Department of Immigration and Citizenship at:

www.immi.gov.au/

can assist you about moving here.

Hope this helps,
Peter

I am interested in becoming RN. Please, help me understand, if you have educational program, which involve 3-year work for the hospital, or anything similar?..

Thanks,

MessageHi Grahame and welcome! Today, the ratio of males to females is well above what I went through. Out of a class of approx. 30 females, I was the only bloke.

For the record I was the third male nurse to have ever trained there in all its history.

Some would say I was very lucky back then, but having spent 12 years in a all boys school before I started nursing, I had to endure three years of blushing. Yes, it was very traumatic!

Good luck with your application and I'm still getting over New Zealand beating us in the Rugby League World Cup! Take Care, Peter

MessageHi Peter

I stumbled across your blog today. I'm also a nurse who trained in NZ. Out of a class of about 80, 8 of us were guys. I currently work in a forensic psych unit (one guy in my church thought I was mad when I told him). I am currently applying for a position in the St Vincents inpatient unit. If all comes together I hope to be in Sydney sometime in time for the NRL season.
