MessageI must apologise for not writing in the Guest book, unfortunately I didn't have enough time to edit the website in the last year. I must answer the following question, too: "The question is whether to start from the beginning (Border of Austria or from Budapest."

On the one hand the elevation is much less while the trail crosses the Little Hungarian Plain, than at the western end of it. On the other hand the public transport is better to Budapest, than to the Kőszeg Mountains at the Austrian border. Hikers don't prefer one direction, they walk from east to west and vice-versa. I think, there is no difference between the two directions.

I promise, I will read regularly the Guest book!

MessageDear Joseph!

I think, after the Camino do don't need any ancouragement to the Blue Trail! The distance is similar, but you must know, the main part of the Blue Trail goes on narrow paths among the Hungarian middle mountains. The webpage contains a lot of information in English, if you have other questions, write a mail to me. My e-mail address is [email protected].

MessageMy wife and I have been doing two legs of the Blue Trail this year with friends of ours - your page was very helpful in preparing the 2 wonderful days we spent in Hungary. We did the hike from Köszeg to Tömörd and from Tömörd to Szeleste - lovely scenery, fine weather and excellent marking of the trail! A big thanks to all the helping hands that put the blue/white signs on every other tree and stone. We'll be back for the next part of the trail next spring!

MessageThank you for preparing this website. The goal of our vacation was to go on an extended hike in Europe. Without your website it's doubtful that we would have considered Hungary as a destination.

In particular we found your route/altitude profiles to be very useful during the planning stages of our recent trip.

On a more general note, we deeply appreciate the efforts of volunteers who maintain the trail markers along the way, whom you acknowledge on your site. A portion of our holiday hiking took place in Romania where such markers are not used and the difficulties following routes from village to village were exponentially greater. So a general "thank you" to those who take care of this. And a further thank you for those who act as holders of the stamps in the cafés and bars along the way.

We met many warm and wonderful people along the way and had a great experience.

Regards,
Craig
