MessageHi - I have been a huge fan of your work since Pi and regard your work as an oasis in the desert of Hollywood banality! Don't get me wrong there are other decent film-makers out there but none with the consistency of quality and substance that you have shown to date. Your films give me hope in a world where millions flock to line the pockets of the likes of Michael Bay et al!

I would really appreciate a response (and a signed pic if possible!). I have another couple of questions . . . is it possible to see your earlier works - Protozoa, Supermarket Sweep and Fortune Cookie anywhere? Also, why is it so hard to get hold of the Pi DVD in the UK?

MessageI'm a huge Aronofsky fan. I have all of his DVDs except for "The Wrestler" which I'll be getting soon. It's hard to pick a favorite, but at the moment it is "The Fountain." Darren keep up the good work. Never get discouraged because your passion shows through in all that you do. You can never lose doing this. Take care.

MessageDear Darren

Your work is great - my office colleague and I yarn about it for hours, in stead of doing our jobs...There is so much that can be said about your films, but I'm specifically into the audio: the sounds in the spacecraft (The Fountain) is amazing, especially the softer sounds, such as the tree's 'hair' and the sound of skin on bark...Anyway, keep tapping into that fountain.

MessageWhen I was a little kid,my mother told me not to stare into the sun.
So once, when I was six, I did.
The doctors didn't know if my eyes would ever heal.
I was terrified, alone in that darkness.
Slowly, daylight crept in through the bandagesand I could see.
But something else had changed inside me.

MessageI am a huge fan and I wanted to talk specifically about The Fountain, by far my favorite movie. I noticed that it was absolutely not as well received as it should have been simply because people didn't put enough time into understanding its brilliant depth. It saddens me so much to see that people push it aside as simply confusing.

It is the only movie I have ever seen of it's kind and it left me in a state of amazement and enormous emotion after watching it. Even though the first time I watched it, I didn't understand enormous parts of it. I have now watched it many times and every time I grasp something new about it and am always amazed at the brilliant depth and meaning put into something as simple as a movie.

I want to thank you for the experience that The Fountain brought me. I can't describe what it means to me to see someone go to such brilliant lengths to express what this film expresses. It even risked doing badly at the box office because it was so different and most people wouldn't be willing to wrap their brains around something so meaningful. I'm here to support you with making this incredible film and hope that you make similar ones in the future as you are the only director I know of to create films of this sort. Please continue for all us deep thinkers out there that want to get more of a depth of experience out of the movies that we see.
