MessageI have seen your light show for about five years now, and they just seem to keep getting better and better. I'm trying to get my peeps to take me, but so far we haven't been able to see it as a family yet... But I am determined to check it out this year! smilie smilie smilie smilie

MessageI too, am sorry that someone assumed you should be held responsible for people driving through your street. Your display has brightened many, many lives within and outside of the community. I suppose there is always a "Grinch" in every crowd, I'm just so sorry because in the email, it sounds like a neighbor. I love what you do, my kids have all grown up with your display....please don't let one ugly person spoil it for you...we (the community) will always be around if you need help with the set-up or take-down, just post something on here...you would be amazed how many people would show up for you. Thank you for bringing the spirit of Christmas to life every year!

PS...I noticed the donation button and will head over to that right now so you know that I mean it. LOL!

MessageThere is always someone who is never happy and will find something negative in ANY situation. Your light display is by far the most amazing I have ever seen. This is the fourth year I have had the honor to see your wonderful display. My son who just turned three absolutely loves it and has done nothing but talk about it since we visited your house on December 1st. He LOVED Santa in the window - what a wonderful addition to your already amazing set up. Thanks for bringing such joy to the people who actually appreciate all of the hard work and money that is spent every year. smilie

MessageBIll I am sorry to hear that people are giving you a hassle about your lights causing a traffic issue. I was just there with my wife and, there were surely no problems, the on lookers watched your fantastic display of christmas beauty, while traffic on collingwood was flowing just as good as it ever has on collingwood. But while my wife and i were there a police officer did stop. Out in front of your house, right after the hill. Im sure you all know the one,? right.Any way the officer stopped, beyond a blind hill, and posed a traffic issue herself, with her right front headlight out as well , i only noticed this because my wife and i play piddle.

But Im sure the comminity has you back if need be.

Thanks for your almost two decade long display, I will be looking forward to next years show. Im sure it will be fantastic as well.

Thanks again,
John.

MessageBill, you aren't going to please everyone. What a silly email. The speed limit is 25 MPH on Collingwood -- it is not like you boarder the beltway.

And as long as I have been coming, I have never seen anything dangerous. There has become an unwritten code where each arriving car gets in the back of the line of cars on the shoulder, turns off their headlights, and then moves up as other people depart.

If people were trying to parallel park, it might be a different story, but that is not what is happening. The "moving up in line" makes it safe for everyone.

I'm guessing the email came from an Internet "troll" -- someone who writes stuff just to get a reaction. Ignore!

MessageI received the following message on the opening night of my display: While the lights are indeed very impressive, and the effort that goes into them is amazing, you are not taking care of your community. You have no warning signs about the high vehicular traffic on Collingwood. This is a HAZARD! Not only to the viewers of the lights, but also to your neighbors that must traverse Collingwood to get to their homes. Every light season, it becomes a daily harrowing adventure to get home. Cars stop in the middle of the street and turn off their lights to see your display more fully. People back up into the street to take pictures. PLEASE PUT UP SOME SIGNS BEFORE A TERRIBLE ACCIDENT OCCURS! We all no how dangerous Collingwood Rd. can be and I have tried to be proactive when it comes to safety- placed reflectors along each shoulder. Contacted, and was advised by the police that the display will be monitored nightly and if warranted police will be assigned traffic control. Signage,I'm afraid, especially after dark would be ineffective.

MessageChristmas is officially here! The Collingwood lights are lit!!!!!! We had so much fun last night at 'opening night' -- my son is 20 months old and loved it. We especially like the Santa up in the window. Hope I am on that long list of his...Thanks for all your hard work. We've been watching you the past couple months and you never cease to amaze us.
