MessageI have just returned from a wonderful trip to Wilhelmshaven where a small group of exPRSites met up with and shared activities and memories with former German staff and others with an interest in the School. The photos depicted by Holger are a true representation of what the site looks like today. However, by spring 2010, all of the buildings except for the 2 bunkers and the boiler house will have been removed. Funding will be provided to landscape the site and make it a pleasant looking area for the people of Wilhelmshaven. It is hoped that the site will attract investors for business purposes and employment. While the site was owned by the Federal Government, no develpment could take place; now the town of Wilhelmshaven owns the land and is in a position to make improvements.
On my final visit to the former School site, I was invited to take anything I wanted - I have a bag of bits and pieces which will be on display at the next Reunion. I have also asked the site manager if we can have the bell tower on Churchill and one of the round windows from the Church. He said he will do his best to dismantle them carefully. I sense another trip to Wilhelmshaven to collect these items!

MessageThank you so much Holger for taking the time to photograph our old school and for making the photos available to us. Your efforts are very much appreciated. The staircase photos especially and the happy memory of sliding down them and the boiler rooms which were of course always out of bounds. Many thanks. Babs

MessageHello, if you know, the old Banter Kaserne / Prince-Rupert School will =
be demolished this year and next year. We have made last pictures of the =
west-area. In the east area the entry is forbidden now. The destroying =
begins there these days...
It s a shame, there could be many ways to save this area. ...:-(

Best regards from Wilhelmshaven
