| Message | Hi my brother (Paul Sadler, now in Canada)and I both went to Collingwood 58 to 61 I was a year ahead of Paul,I joined the 2nd Year. I may have the years slightly wrong, old age!I have re visited Wilhelshaven in 1965, whilst working on Shell Tankers, we drydocked in Hamburg, and took a trip to see the old school. In 1973ish on a driving holiday to Denmark and finaly in 1998.A lot had changed, tarmaced causeway, marinas all over the place!I rememeber the really harsh winters, no one believes me the sea used to freeze!! I remember Mr Roberts (Robbo) one of our house masters, I remember the buses that used to take us from the main building to Collingwood, and encouraging the German drivers to go faster and overtake on the causeway other buses. Not much traffic in those days. We were walking over the causeway one day and a American convey of scout cars stopped to ask us, in German, the way! When they found out we were English they could not understand it at all!! Mixed memories some happy others not so. Not come across any one from the old days, nam,es are hazy, two come to mind, Heaviside, McGee. Well if you remember me or my brother send a message or email. |
