MessageVery interesting and educational site! I still use a slide rule myself, a Pickett 600-ES. I can't bear the thought of retiring it. Most of that is sentimental as my Grandfather who was an electrical engineer, taught me to use a slide rule when I was a boy in the early 70's. (I'm 46 now.)
The one real advantage I think these mechanical and analog devices have over the modern, digital ones is that the old timers give you more of an appreciation for the magnitude of the numbers with which you're working. That's opposed to simply pressing buttons on a keyboard and having a number instantly provided.
Remember, MATH IS POWER!!!

MessageThanks for such an interested webpage, I teach informatics and these machines are good examples of precursors of computers. Good information for the estudents, and a pleasure for me.

MessageHi folks, Well I was in Springfield, IL and stumbled accross a 1916 Sundstrand Adding Machine. I've cleaned it, oiled it, and it works. I'm looking for instructions on how to use it. If you push the lever all the way forward it does something to change the chain of logic. Still looking. smilie

You should consider adding an announcement mailing list or RSS feed to tell people when things are added to the site.

MessageHello Elizabeth

Thank you for the kind words about the site and the Tiger video. As for selling your Tiger calculator, ebay is how I would do it. (I'd try listing under vintage calculators, or under Antiques / Scientific Instruments.)

Good luck!
