| Message | Thank you for remembering and honoring my cousin, George Merritt Wisham, Jr. His father has since passed and his mother is in a nursing home. He is survived also by two sisters. We are a military family with nearly all the men through my generation (and me) serving in the U.S. military. The tradition has been carried on by several of my cousins and their children. My daughter is a proud military spouse to a submariner, but we all remember and honor "Georgie" and his sacrifice. He did not need to serve, as he did his military service in the Marine reserves. However, he then attended college in Army ROTC, graduated and began his service as a Second Lieutenant in the Army. He died in his first action, along with his senior officer. My grandmother passed the December before he died, which in retrospect may have been a blessing, for he truly was my family's "golden boy." My heart goes out to all of those other families who have also lost loved ones in Iraq, Afghanistan and I am sorry to say "all the others." |

| Message | Interesting thing. The number associated with James T Davis KIA Vietnam is 24. Not sure exactly how that happens - but - Sp Davis was spoken of directly, by name, by President Johnson as 'the first American to die in Vietnam in defense of our freedom'.
APL replies: These causality numbers are directly derived from the memorial wall. President Johnson may have had many reasons (none good for the country) not to acknowledge the previous 23 deaths. |

| Message | I was with Don Charles (Sonny) Brown the day he died. We were in D Co. 4th BN 3rd Inf of the Americal Division. He was a good friend and soldier. Thanks for keeping his and the other's memories alive. They will live as long as we remember..... |

| Message | being from ohio it gets harder and harder to be comfortable being a liberal. although i believe we have it backwards these days. it seems that anyone who acted out in their past (you might say liberally), at some point decides they are now grown up and start considering themselves conservative and start making all sorts of rules for everyone else to follow that they either did not have to do or did not live by. i have always thought every one should be treated equally and kindly with compassion without doing it because there is a rule, mommy or daddy said so, or it says it in "the good book". cause you knowgod might punish you. scary times!! speak up they do! |
