MessageThank You for listing the interments in the Dakota City Cemetery. My Great Great Grandfather is Renaldo Rogers, Civil War Veteran, of the 148th Infantry Co. A NY. I was hoping to find his two young children that died in Dakota Co. Frances and Otis Rogers. Also looking for burial of Anna Jacobsen Rogers. They weren't there. Again, Thank You.

Messagesmilie Thank you for adding this cemetery listing. I found Little Jay Wright. I was disappointed the rest of the family was not in this cemetery so I have a lot more investigating to do. DS

MessageI'm looking for any information on James Young Deer (also known as Youngdeer) who worked in the silent film era starting in 1909. He was born in Dakota City. I'm working on a DVD with Native American content and will be including one or two silent films he directed. Does anybody know his date of birth, his tribe, if any of his family still live around Dakota City, and anything else about him? Thanks!

MessageI was born in South Sioux in 1928. My father was a section hand. I was told I was born in a box car. I understand box cars were used as living accommodations. Has any one done any research on the box cars? I am a retired university professor. I worked and lived all over the world. My family wants me to write my memoirs. My place of birth would be interesting to my Grand children. I would appreciate any information, or lack there of regarding box cars in South Sioux during the 1920s. There has been a number of articles in the Illinois press about immigrants living in box cars in the 1920. Thank you in advance for any response to my inquiry.
