MessageI was a DC3, in the "R" Div. aboard the Randolph
from 1953 - 1954. I worked in the carpenter shop I remember many hours spent playing pinocle in the sheet metal shop on the hanger deck (starboard side). I left the ship in Naples to fly back for discharge in summer of 1954.
Would like to hear from anyone who remembers those times THANKS.

MessageMy grandfather Walter Frenger was a member of the VF-12, I believe, and was aboard the USS Randolph around 1944. He is paralyzed from a stroke so I can't really communicate with him so I am doing research on my own. I have a lot of documentation from him but I am still looking for anyone that may know him that I can get information from. I believe he either flew a hellcat or a helldiver.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

MessageHappy to find the site. I was an SA working with the Radioman's group (CR Division) in late 1965-early 1966 until going to CT school in Pensacola FL. Worked with a great bunch of guys. I remember "Nellie" - Nelson, wowing everyone with his dancing during a Wash., DC weekend. Everyone stopped to watch him.
