MessageMy grandfather, Eugene Denning, is a WWII veteran. He spent a couple of years on the USS Randolph. We love listening to his stories about his time on the ship. One of his fondest memories was spending time in the Panama Canal while they removed the guns from the side of the ship. He still has his yearbook from the ship and has enjoyed sharing it with his family.

MessageI served with John Wills aboard the Randolph. I went aboard the ship Sept 1963. He was a RM2 at the time and as I remember, he had been in the Air Force prior to joining the Navy. Also, I think he was from either KY or TN.

MessageMy dad served as a radarman on the USS Randolph's 1954 Med cruise. I'll always cherish his stories. Hot shot pilots refusing to eject from doomed planes, and winding up at the bottom of the Med. Endless and thankless Shore Patrol duty. RIP Dad.

MessageServed on board the USS Randolph as an AMSAN and Flight Deck Director from 1959-1960. Was on board when Walter Cronkite came aboard to do a story. I was on board when we went through a hurricane (Nor'Easter) when it cracked open our hurricane bow; on board for our Mid Cruise to Canada. Those were great days!

MessageI was a member of the V-6 division from 1961 to 1964.Plane captain of the TF and also aboard for the recovery of the astronauts and the collision with the tanker. Some scary times but I have only the best memories of the ship and my shipmates.
