MessageHi all,
i would like to second Richard B's comments and Mick's.
Have a great time at University Richard and thanks for playing so well for us last year.
I hope you really enjoy your football at Uni and you must have a chance of first team football as a first year which would be a really good achievement, as i would imagine Exeter football will be strong despite it being primarily Rugby Union (yawn) territory?
For what's it's worth, i saw Chris B twice last year playing for G & G and he was their best player, supported by him winning their player of the year.
Yes the game is all about opinions unfortunately a few are pretty poor, unsubstantiated and bordering on the incoherent on both sides of the argument......now it's just lucky i'm perfect of course!
best regs to all
Mathew

PS Chris Watts where are you? Trust you are well, top lad and top player!

MessageOver the years we have lost a number of quality players to University! I include Richard Grove in this along with the likes of Chris Watts and John Eldred.

They both came back to play for us three years later and let's hope young Richard does the same.

He is one of the best young players we have had here and we wish him every success in his studies.

MessageAlthough the u18s lost 0-3 last night, they were far from disgraced considering they were playing Lewes'Conference Academy team.

A couple of older lads have now signed on and we can only get better.

MessageFirstly, I understand that everybody has a right to their opinion, but in response to Mike, I feel that is a very unfair, and above all, inaccurate observation. Merstham, last season, was a tremendous learning curve for me, and the support, guidance and encouragement that I received there, particularly from senior players such as Craig, Chats, K, Locky, Micky Morgan etc, allowed me to improve as a player. However, I feel that I more than deserved my place in the starting line-up and gave my all in every match. I would also like to thank James for his support and kind words, it is much appreciated. But as this shows, I can answer my critics without my dad's input (although I am sure he will have something to say on the matter smilie ) As far as the debate about me and Boults, I have no problem with him at-all and have enjoyed playing with him, and I sincerely wish the team the utmost success this season. Obviously, if I was not leaving for University, I would have hoped and expected to have been a vital part of the team. However, as I am going I understand and respect the manager's decision in sticking with a settled central defensive partnership. I hope this can now end this guestbook debate, and to prove there are no hard feelings, if Mike would care to leave his address, I will be happy to send his guide-dog some biscuits smilie

MessageCan we draw a line under the Richard Grove's ablity issue now and focus on Merstham going forward.
As all three are quality players and as much as I like good debate on how we are doing it is getting personal now and none of these players deserve this!
Thanks to you both James and Mike but let's think positive for the whole team from this point onwards please.
