How did you find OABONNYResearching Jefferson County
MessageMy father's family has its roots in the Ellisburg area, as well as Sandy Creek. I need to identify the road # off which is the Mellen homestead. In 2002 I followed the road until it was baricaded by wire fence. I could see the old road as it continued on towards Ellisburg. The road was called Mellen Road at one time and it still has its stone column markers. I used Google Maps to follow the road - the imprint is still viewable - how exciting was that! I want to locate the property owner, so I can travel the road and look for foundations along the way.

How did you find OABONNYlink from JC Web Board
MessageI'm a transplant to the area and just LOVE all the history here. The architecture is amazing and it breaks my heart to see so much falling into disrepair. Thank you for getting all the shots and saving them for all to see.

MessageVery interesting. Makes me want to do the same thing for this neck of the woods... while I'm living in suburban Buffalo now, I've spent most of my life wandering rural Niagara county and adjecent bits of WNY and we have nearly the same number of abandoned farms, etc.. in the region.

Your own websitehttp://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~
Messagesmilie smilie I loved your site. So sad to see so many old places falling down. I grew up in the area and have most of my relatives there. Both sides of my family go way back in Jefferson Co. Was just there in May. I do a lot of Genealogy so found it through your other site. Great job your sites are so well done and a lot of work.
