MessageAn antidepressant is a medication used primarily in the treatment of depression.
Depression can occur if some of the chemicals called neurotransmitters in the brain are not functioning effectively.
There are three specific chemicals that can affect a person's mood
Antidepressants affect one or more of these chemicals in different ways to help stabilize the chemical imbalance often seen in depression.

MessageDear Friends of Gayle Mill,
I have recently been recruited as secretary for the Friends of Gayle Mill.
Apart from the recording of minutes and dealing with correspondence, I am delighted to be working with other Friends and Gayle Mill Trust volunteers in all the fund raising and other activities. Our latest event was to join in the Leyburn 1940's weekend by promoting how the Mill pond was used for tank testing prior to the D Day landing and the Mill used to billet troops, also letting everyone know we were opening as a special treat on the Sunday. We had a good response to the "direct marketing" and the feedback from visitors included " I'm really glad I was told about this yesterday by your Land Girls, I never knew they tested tanks up here. It's been good to come and see it for myself smilie "

MessageI am looking forward to visiting Gayle in June with some friends from the USA.
One of my visitors has the family name of Dinsdale and she wants to see where her ancestors came from before emigrating to America.

You have a beautiful village.

MessageIt is really nice to see such parts of our local history being preserved when everything around us is slowly but surely heading for a slow down,

Our oil hungry society is using up the black stuff as if there was no tomorrow, while here the energy is eco friendly

Places such as this one will one day be in great demand as will all traditional crafts which will be needed again, the main attraction will be the knowledge preserved within its walls, we must preserve them both.

The world and the country as a whole need more places like this, we must support our local craftspeople and indusrty for the future.

Traditional Crafts

MessageHave always ben interested in water power, mainly for electricity production. Would like to call to see your installation this next Bank Holiday. end of May 08.
Its nice to see that the old tried and tested power generation schemes are being ressurected into their rightful place. They should never have been "superceded by modern technology". The old methods worked and still do . Far better.
Good luck and many more years running.

MessageWell done for completing the restoration! I will visit soon. Iwas lucky enough to meet Brian a few years ago, so sorry to hear he did not see the project complete. My Dad was still alive when Brian showed our whole family (three generations) around the unrestored mill. We were interested because researching our family tree led us to Gayle Mill where our ancester George worked. We were delighted to see George's self portarait and name on the beam! Priceless! Thankyou so much!

MessageHello Friends,
after the successful volunteer recruitment days in November, we now have over 70 enthusiastic helpers. Some have already become regulars doing a variety of tasks that are enabling us to get many tasks completed that need to be done prior to opening.
Many thanks to all 14 volunteers who worked extremely hard on 27th December. Despite freezing wind and rain, wood was chopped and loaded into storage. Without this help we would have had a very cold start to the New Year.
Tour guide training begins Saturday 2nd February. Any further volunteers who would like to register an interest can contact admin@gaylemill.org.uk smilie
