| Message | Hi, I have just bought Zoe and I am sailing her on the broads. I plan to return her to the sea though as she needs room to breath. Lovely to see how you had her set up. The previous owner to me has not looked after her and she is going into MARTHAM boat yard over the winter where I will attempt a refit. |

| Message | Hi Bill, Thanks for your mail - I have tried to reply but your email address keeps bouncing!  The US is certainly the place to buy with almost $2.03 cents to the pound! I registered Kite with the SSR on line at https://mcanet.mcga.gov. uk/ssr/ssr/ Costs £25 and takes 2-3 weeks on average. It is handy to have the SSR when importing back into the EU. I came via the Azores which was cheaper (VAT at 15%) and a lot less officious and bureaucratic. Contact Duncan Sweet at Mid Atlantic Yacht Services (MAYS) in Faial, Horta. Apart from that, you need to be aware of the RCD requirements which are not too draconian - most US boats are actually of a higher standard than EEC regulations. All in all, it was well worth it and we have an Atlantic crossing under our belts! If I can help in any way in the future, give me a call. Regards Steve |

I have a Bavaria 38 based in Sardinia at present and am very tempted by the prices of boats in the US, particularly Island Packets . | Message | I have dreamed my own sailing boat. I'd like to buy yours but it takes a lot of cost to carry. In korea (sailing) boats are thought a luxury and charged high tax yet. I am happy I meet her and I hope you have a bigger boat. |
