MessageI remember just sitting in front of my TV screen when WPIX in NYC broke in with the news. I couldn't believe my favorite player was gone... just like that! I met Diane at the 20th anniversary remembrance at Yogi's museum in Montclair, NJ. What a wonderful, gracious woman!
YES, we need to get THE captain into the Hall. If Fisk can go, Thurm definitely needs to be there.

MessageI remember the day after like it was yesterday! I cried w/ Billy and Bobby and probably everyone in Yankees Universe, Maybe even Reggie! I was a High Scholl Sr. in 79 who follow Munson his whole career! Lets get the Captain in! Still tears me up to think of that August day and I still have the Philly sports page from that day. I even have a Bulldog named "Munson"! God Bless you Therm!

MessageThurm was a great example of character on and off the field. He was not just one of my favorite ballplayers, he was one of my favorite people.

It dumbfounds me to try to understand why he is not in.

Messagesmilie Glad I'm not alone in the thought that Munson BELONGS in Cooperstown. I will not go there until Thurman is there. Yeah, I may only be one voice but I can be really loud if needed!!

MessageI have been a catcher since birth. We're born, not made. My father was born on June 7, and he had a beard and mustache, just like Thurman. This combined with a Yankees household sealed my fate, whether I was a swimmer or not.

Idol worship, combined with a desire to catch the ball, propelled me to a state championship and a lifelong love for dirt, stats, cleats, bats, Yankee logos (I have one tattooed on my left ankle), home plates, and stopping people from reaching their destination unhindered.

Thurman, you created my childhood, one summer at a time, after your death. You made me lead the team, call the play, encourage the pitcher, and set my legs against the bitch who was going to take my home plate.

Thank you.

Love,
daphne
