MessageBob Murphy, Announcer for the NY Mets said this about RICHIE ALLEN: He could hit a ball as far as any man who ever lived.

Bill Campbell, Announcer for the Phillies said this about Richie Allen: The home runs he hit on and over the 75 ft roof at Connie Mack Stadium were still going up.

Tom Seaver on Richie Allen: He could be on my team anytime.

Unbelievable talent. One of the strongest, if not the strongest player to ever play. Swung a 42 oz bat at one time. Hit line drives that almost took opposing players heads off and wound up being home runs.

DICK ALLEN BELONGS IN THE HALL OF FAME...AND YOU CAN TAKE THAT TO THE BANK.

***I AM ALWAYS COLLECTING RICHIE "DICK" ALLEN MEMORABILIA.*** #15 WAS THE MAN.

MessageI was a big fan of Dick Allen as I was growing up. I would always listen to the baseball games whenever his team would play the Giants. I think he was one of the great power hitters of the game.
He played during the era when the pitchers dominated the game.

Sincerely, Richard Butterfield

MessageYou are so right. He was considered a "bad dude" because he wouldn't take any crap from the press or the fans. If he were white,he would be seen as a hard nosed gamer. Because he was black he was seen as a bad seed. I compare him with Milton Bradley today.(I'm a 60 year old white guy, btw)

Dick was a great player and belongs in the HOF with other guys like Tony Oliva, Jim Rice, Andre Dawson, Bert Blyleven, Jim Kaat, Ricky Colavito, and others.

MessageIn the summer of 1972 when I was 13 Dick Allen was my hero and the White Sox were making their first serious pennant run since 1967. It was my first magical baseball summer and Duick Allen wa its focal point. There was a time when he was the absolute best hitter in MLB. That's enough for me!!!

MessageGrew up in Philly-- Allen was the best!!
Every barber shop, tavern or public place with a TV would stop to watch Allen at the plate, whether the Phils were ahead or behind. ALlen had tremendous star power.

My favorite hitter of all-time.

MessageHe was definitely one of the best and most exciting players to watch, and I used to look forward every morning to reading the stats of the previous day's games, to see how he'd done. Let's face it, Rookie of the Year, MVP, many great years and a fine career overall as a power hitter who could run the bases with speed as well...he obviously deserves the HOF nod. What a cool personality and sense of humor he had too, and I remember how he amused the fans at Dodger Stadium with his shoe scribblings in the dirt around First Base as he waited out the pauses between pitches and batters while fielding that position.

MessageI was introduced to Dick (Richie) Allen in 1967. A friend who knew him introduced him to me as Rich. Although I am a huge baseball fan, I only realized an hour after we had met that he was Richie Allen. He was a star with the Phillies at the time, yet I saw him almost every week at a small local bar when the Phillies were in town. He was one of the nicest, most approachable, down to earth people that I have ever met. It seemed like the Richie Allen I knew, and the one talked about in the Philadelphia media were two different people. He was very respecfull to everyone he met. I can't see how anyone can say that what he did off of the field kept him out out of the Hall of Fame. Look at his numbers. He belongs in the Hall of Fame.
