MessageHi.

I wanted everyone to know that I am going to be closing down this site. I have decided to move the DAHoF to another easier to manage location.

The link for the new site is on the main page.

MessageDefinitely my favorite player off all time too. He was not a phoney. He was as strong as an ox - he had to be to wield that 40 ounce bat. He also had a great sense for the dramatic - 415 foot home runs with 2 outs in the bottom of the nine and the bases loaded to win the game; arriving at the all-star game moments before his at bat and lining a base hit to everyone's amazement. ETC, ETC. And you know what? He didn't take steroids!!

MessageThank you for your great website on Dick Allen. I am a life-long Oakland A's fan and remember him very much from his one year there (1977). He didn't do much for the A's unfortunately, but I really enjoyed watching him anyway. Thank you for the photos -- there aren't that many around from when he was on the A's.

MessageI wanted to share one fond memory of Dick Allen from my childhood.

I collect baseball cards of Dick Allen and a couple other favorite players. Back as a young boy in 1975 I remember opening a pack of Topps Baseball cards from that year with a kid from my street. He had a Dick Allen in his pack and I had Henry Aaron in mine. We traded straight up.

To this day that 1975 Topps card of Dick Allen is one of my all time favorites. Granted, it is not worth nearly the amount that Aaron's is, but I don't care about the price. The memories are priceless.

MessageDick Allen was my first favorite player too! I lived in Schiller Park, IL growing up and the White Sox were my favorite team.

I think Mr. Allen is a borderline candidate for the HOF. I believe he is better than some of the players that are in Cooperstown.

Great site!

Erik

MessageHere's a pretty good review of 64 Intruder, a baseball novel set in Philadelphia that features D. Allen.
