MessageOnce again a delightful and comfortable stay; the room is furnished well with some very nice touches. As other people say the breakfast is particuclarly good. I rate the shower as one of the best I have been under. As always, Monty was at his most charming!

We shall be back.

MessageWe've just returned from 4 nights stay at Higher Holbeam.Beautiful location, right in the middle of nowhere.Really peaceful.Spotlessly clean,well-serviced accommodation. We stayed in the Garden Room which was self-contained & well-furnished and with television and tea/coffee making tray(replenished daily). Also mini-fridge.Soft bed and pillows!Huge bath!Occasional candlelit evening!Lovely breakfasts from smoothie&cereal to the full works!Plenty of toast&muffins with more if wanted and lots of jams, honey, marmalade, lemon curds etc.Carolyn was a warm and friendly hostess and nothing was too much trouble - even lending us a hose to clean off our bikes when we got muddy on a track!Keep to the lanes which are lovely to cycle around. All in all we couldn't recommend this B&B highly enough for couples without children who want a restful break away from it all.If Higher Holbeam was a hotel it would be 5star in terms of cleanliness, service and comfort as well as value for money. We hope to be able to stay again if the Garden Room is vacant! One tip when finding Higher Holbeam:when you turn off the A383 Ashburton Road, opposite the car sales place, don't take Littlejoy Road but continue along Chercombe Bridge Road for about a mile and then take the fingerposted road directed to Holbeam - the road is much wider! smilie

MessageJust had a wonderful few days at Higher Holbeam and can't praise it enough. Carolyn keeps everything immaculate: the standard of the rooms and their servicing is outstanding. We loved the superb breakfasts, the warm and friendly welcome, and the quiet location. The ability to come and go without needing to enter the main house was very convenient, and although the approach road is narrow it is actually not bad at all by rural Devonian standards (best to approach from the Newton Abbot direction). We shall be delighted to stay again on our future visits to that part of the world.

We have just returned from a 3 night stay at Higher Holbeam. We stayed in the Garden room. This bed and breakfast has to be the best in Devon, it is 5 star. The accomadation & location are first class, and the breakfast was top rate.I have stayed at a number of B+B`s in Devon, but you would be hard pushed to match the quality of this guest house. Carolyn and her two lovely children make you feel very much at home. My children (7yr & 1yr old) enjoyed playing in the garden and we all felt very comfortable.
I would recommend a sat nav as the location is very rural off single track country lanes. Mine would not recognise the postcode but did recognise Holbeam Lane.
Carolyn you and your family provide a home from home feel and nothing is to much trouble.
Thankyou for a wonderful stay and we will see you again.

MessageWe were a bit worried when we found this B&B that it might be too rural but found it to be an ideal location to get to the surrounding areas such as Torquay, Paignton, Totnes, Teignmouth and Dartmoor National Park.
We received a very warm welcome from Carolyn and her family and felt very much at home in their lovely house. The breakfasts were excellent and her smoothies are to be recommended.
Unfortunately time and the weather were against us so we didn’t have a chance to walk in the Holbeam area but just looking at the view over the valley while we were having breakfast I am sure it would have been worth spending a day or two just exploring.
We had some nice meals out not too far from the B&B, particularly at the Inn in Denbury and spent an enjoyable evening having a drink on the village green, the one evening when we could appreciate the sunshine!
We thoroughly recommend Higher Holbeam, the country lanes are a bit of an experience and certainly a sat nav helps but it was worth it and we would not hesitate to return should we be holidaying in South Devon in the future.

MessageWe can but endorse the complimentary comments of those before us. Idyllic location, warm welcome, lovely breakfast, spotless comfortable accomodation. Well worth searching out - ability to read an Ordnance Survey map a considerable bonus! Tell your friends; but not too many as we want to be able to get in next time!!

MessageA wonderful location which, although so close to Newton Abbot, is in the heart of the beautiful Devonshire countryside and the views from Higher Holbeam are gorgeous. Although it rained for most of our visit, it didn't deter us from indulging in a good walk around the lanes! The accommodation is self contained which was great for us as we were attending a couple of functions and we felt that we were not disturbing the family when we returned. Our lovely room with adjoining en-suite was absolutely spotless and Carolyn has paid so much attention to detail and to making her guests as comfortable as possible. The breakfasts (and smoothies) were great and it was a pleasure to chat to Carolyn and other guests, meet the children and of course Monty the dog. Absolutely faultless!

MessageWow, what a find! Mum and I stayed for two nights and it was fabulous. Such great views, good food and spotlessly clean room. I would recomend it to anyone. We were made to feel very welcome by Carolyn, her chilren and Monty the dog, even the sun shone. I feel we arrived as strangers and left as freinds. smilie
