Sorry to trouble you, it's been a long time since I last communicated. Just tried downloading a few files to get Einstein games working in mame so I downloaded the Mame side from your site together with updated XML, Xbas, Bios files and a few games. I found several worked but some games including manicminer return with No File as though there was a problem with the hash file? Any ideas?

Hi, I have a TC01 and a Tatung monitor TM01A but unfortunately no cable/lead to connect them together. On the monitor it says the connection is a YUV/RGB LIN. Both connections appear to have sockets for a 6 pin plug but I haven't managed to find anything matching on internet sites. If you have one of these you can bear to part with I have cash or Einstein games in exchange. I hope you can help. Paul
This site is a great collection of information about the Einstein. keep it up! I remember seeing an Einstein on a desk in some shop when I was just a child wondering what it was and why was there no info about it. All I knew was Vic/64/Spectrum at that time. Still yearning to learn more about 80s computers

As a purchaser of a Tatung Einstein (Serial No 2) I was one of the first users of this machine. I, and a friend, formed the UKEUG (UK Einstein User Group) and hosted an exhibition at the National Motorcycle Museum around about 1983/4. We published a magazine for Einstein Users for a year or so, but in our attempts to improve the quality we purchaed a Macintosh SE30 to typeset the magazine. Converted to Mac! However I have recently revived my interest in the Einstein and I am in the process of reverse engineering the MOS, to be run in yaze. As part of this process I have typeset the MOSDOS manual. Would you like a copy?

Hi Mike,
A bit of Einstein history. I used to work for Decca Television in Bradford (actually Clayton, Bradford) during the 1980's and when it was acquired by the Tiawanese manufacturer Tatung (UK) I worked for them too in Telford, Shropshire. My father Cyril Stafford was the engineering manager at the Bradford lab.
The chief engineer that devised the idea for the home PC was Dr Roy Clarke, and the development took place at the Telford design facility. Some of the engineers that worked on this project are still around today.
I never owned an Einstein but I was part of the R&D team that created Tatung's range of VGA, SVGA "high-res" CRT monitors, in the 1990's. About 5 years ago, I recovered my old BBC Model A from the loft and began a successful renovation to bring it back to life. It's an enhanced Model B now.
Kind Regards and great to see your interest in Retro PCs which is quite admirable.

Great site you've got here! I'm currently looking into the history of Elite and your site came up when I looked for the Tatung Einstein version. Ashamed to say I'd never heard of this computer before. But now I have, so thank-you!

Hi, I was the owner of Bell Software a million years ago. Really pleased to see the Tatung is still well supported. Thanks so much for running this site and allowing people to enjoy their old favourites. Keep on going. Dave Bell

Hi, love your site. In the '80s I worked for Fydler Microprogramming (later FMP Business Systems) and wrote many of the titles you have listed as produced by (Fydler). I would have been 17-19 years old at the time, still employed as a software developer now at 56!
I would love to find some of my old software somewhere to run on an emulator. I think I still have an Einstein with 80 col card in the loft at my house in the UK, I live and work in the US now.
Back then we wrote tons of software for the Einstein, mostly custom software for local businesses, but there are the off the shelf packages you have listed too. The Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth, Devon had all the records of their Donkeys and Donators on Eisteins at one point.
