MessageHi my name is Dana,
My grandfather was from Calabria and i am uncertain where my grandmothers father was living before he came to the states but my grandmother had a recipe for Gnocci and we didnt get it from her before she passed and i was wondering if you could let me know what you use for a recipe like that or do you even make it.
My mother is 77 years old and before her time comes i would like to be able to get the recipe.
My grandmother used a potato to make the gnocci's and we are unsure which one would have been most popular maybe with your help we can figure it out.
Thanks.
Dana
My families last names were Mattace and Piscioneri.

MessageI made bread today using half w wheat & half allpurpose flour. It seemed to rise well but shrunk back in the oven. Taste good but looks a little thin. THEN I FOUND YOUR SITE! CAN'T WAIT FOR THIS TO BE EATEN UP SO I CAN TRY SOME OF YOUR RECIPES.

MessageThank you so much!! I am originally from New Orleans, and my grandmother used to help her neighbor (an immigrant from Sicily at age 13) make Sicilian fig cakes, ammonia cookies, sesame cookies and other baked delights at Christmas and St. Joseph's Day. Grandma never learned the recipe, because "Miss Rosie" had the recipes in her head and in her hands... Nothing was measured. Well, Miss Rosie passed away, Grandma passed away, and now I only rarely encounter Sicilian Christmas cookies on visits home. No one I have asked could give me the recipe, and until now I have never thought to search for one on the Internet. Really I was just searching for the definitive spelling of Cuchidahti! I am SO appreciative of your posting this recipe for all to share. God willing, for St. Joseph's Day I will try my hand at Cuchidahti, and I hope Miss Rosie approves of the final product. smilie THANKS AGAIN!
