Message | I found your website while browsing the Sheffield pages. I did not attend City Grammar but was amazed to find photos of two neighbors who went to the school in the early 1950s. One was Jeff Kelly who lived next door to me in Rokeby Road, Parson Cross and the other was Valerie Hind who lived on Wheata Road jusr around the corner. Although I left that address in 1955 I still remember their names and faces though I very much doubt they would remember me. My daughter and grandaughter who are American love to visit England and I took them for their first visit to Sheffield 3 years ago. Was sad to see that the school is now gone. Happy though that Wednesday are still at Owlerton and saw them beat Derby 1-0 while I was there. Just want to finish by saying congratulations on your very interesting website. Message | Hi. I'm wondering if there's anybody out there who knew, or was a friend of my father, Norman William Broadley? Dad attended Sheffield City Grammar I do know 1947 - 1950, but also probably before that. I've looked around the site and found photos, and a school play he was in. Sadly, Dad died in March 2004, aged 72. But I would love to hear from anyone who knew him, or who have any stories about him. I can be contacted via: [email protected] |

Message | I had a mixed career since I left CGS, first working for the SMRE in Sheffield as a lab technician. Eventually via Blackpool School of Photography I eventually migtrated to Granada Television, where I worked as a cameraman for over 30 years. It was a goood well paid job that got me all around the world, literally watching history being made on occaisions. Then they made me a manager and I retired. At school I started climbing with Pete Scott and climbing has been my passion ever since, with a fair amount of success in the Alps and Himalayas as well as hundreds of first ascents in the UK. I am now living in Spain, still climbing and doing new routes, mainly on my own personal mountain, Segaria, which is virtually in my back yard. I was at CGS from 1960 to 1965, If any of the old crowd want to get in touch, e-mail me. Al . [email protected] |

Message | 1947-1950 Alan I just noticed that all the NEW GUESTBOOK messages do not contain an Email address.I was curious to see why this is. On hitting the preview button I find that the address ( if included) is visable only to you the GUESTBOOK owner Can the Email address be made visable to us all ? If so, I think site communications would be greatly improved ( and made more enjoyable) if the transmitter were given the choice of making their own address visable. [email protected] |
