MessageI find your project interesting and I am signing into your guest book. i live in Grand Ledge Michigan. My family has live in this area for over 100 years. In the early 1900s my great grandfather moved here. His name was Jackson Harlow Briggs and was a switch,an for the Pere Marquette Railroad. What was interesting from the census he was know as Jackson, Jack and John. John seem to be a very common name with the Briggs

We have been able to go back to about the time of the revolutionary war. As report by his son, Abner Briggs came from Ireland with no birth or date of death.

Thank and good luck.

MessageThanks for those photos. Rev. Ansel looks a lot like my son. In our family we talk about the famous high Briggs forehead. My dad, Frank Earle Briggs had one and so does my son. But, far as I know we didn't have any relatives in Oklahoma.

MessageJust wondering whether there is interest in a tie with my branch of the BRIGGS family who migrated to Australia in the 1880's from Scotland. Records that I have show that my family generally lived in Southern Scotland or Northern England.

regards

Michael

MessageHi All Briggs'

We have quite a family. I believe that I am related to John Briggs of Portsmouth b. 1609 - 1690 of Darrington (York), England. He was the brother of Rebecca who was killed in a fire. The Briggs' and the Dixon's have crossed in history several times. I would love to get passed William of Salle tying him to Brydges, Burghes or Brugge. They must have come from someone. The Doomsday Book really messed us up. Good luck to all!

MessageI am a female Briggs, and my grandfather was Augustus Briggs Born in the 1800's his family was from a plantation of slaves, an affair took place and started a whole new breed of relatives whom has not wanted to be claimed. My family came from Ireland in the 1600's I was told. I was told my cousins have blue eyes and there is a very large family of the Briggs' and all of the males had a very large family. I would like to find out more I was told the other side of the Briggs family did not want to claim those who were part of the slave masters. My G-grandma was part white and married or started a relationship with one of the slaves. Her last name Rowlett, my great grandmother and the wife of Rev. William T. Briggs. This could be something of brilliance if these family's are connected and have been apart for centuries, because of ethnicity, the blood is still there. Someone help me fill the gap where my grandpa and his 5 brothers fit in. Their names were: Frank, Arthur, Henderson, and Ripley as well as Augustus, my grandpa who I never got to meet, he died in 1972 and was born in the 1800s. Hezekiah Briggs is my fathers great, great, grandfather.
