MessageBefore the second world war we used to eat at Cook,s in Stratford high street.Despite all my travels since that taste has never left me.
You have enabled me to revisit a simple but enjoyable period of my life.
Many thanks.

MessageI was born in Deptford London in 1948 and lived the first 28 years of my life in area before moving to Yorkshire, I know live in a small village called Seaton Ross and enjoy my life very much apart from the lack of good pie and mash and jelled eel, I am looking forward to eating london Pie and eel again but because i am the only one in my family who as ever eaten them it might be sometime before I do. Messagethank you for the jellied eels,
my wife is a convert to pie eels & mash since she worked at Multibroadcast in w/stow high st.&Iwined & dined her at manzies, as an ex midlander,
she thought this was the food of the devil,
she now knows it is the food of the gods.
We are both now in our 70's without access to gods food and view the pieman as an angel sent to attend to our needs (only in food)
good luck bob and thanks smilie smilie

Thanx for your kind words Edna The Pieman

MessageThe Dog ate all the pies, have not had pie and mash for many years our order of 4 pies mash and liquor arrived you could see it was the real McCoy, as per instructions placed the pies onto a tray, ring at the door Mary goes to answer on returning no pies just empty holders and a very Guilty looking dog (big black german Shepherd) in the corner, aged 12 he has never ever done anything like that before, I only wished I had a camera to take a photo of his face, no he was not punished whatsoever he had a very good sleep in the afternoon with 4 pies down his belly. We ate the mash and liquor, phoned the pieman to place another order told him what had happened we had a really great laugh. next day 4 pies mash and liquor arrived no charge, the pieman even sent a pie down for prince who was put out in the yard with his pie. To you Pieman thanks great pie and mash but more than that an old school eastender.
This guy is special.

A Great Story Joe Thanx for sharing it with us The Pieman
