MessageWhere have all our shipmates gone. In my dotage (85+) I have time to reflect on many of my old shipmates. I read several sites on our Navy, DESA, Tin Can sailors plus others. When the writer refers to RTCSan Diego in the 70’s I really feel old. I still maintain contact with couple of them. Most of my oldship mates have made the last voyage. WayneI want to thank for all the time and effort that you have put forth in maintaining this site. Your efforts have meant a lot to me. (Thanks for the memories.)

MessageHi Wayne, I wrote you before but must have done something wrong. Good to see the new web site is working better, it will be ok once fools like me understand how to do it. Willis Moody passes this year he went fast. He served with Dave Norris, Al Brenner, Bob Hunter, A. J. Gores, Bill Ross, Burger, and my self. He was in the reserves who got called back in during the Korean mess. Spanglermate Al Brenner suffered a stroke this month but his wife says he is doing better and expect a full recovery. Let us all pray for him.Millie and I don't get around much anymore. Bob

MessageThanks, Jim, it’s always wonderful hearing from you! Your visits and contributions to the website have meant a lot to me, more than you may realize. After Dave passed away and since we’re no longer having annual reunions, visitors to the website have dropped off significantly. But part of that also stems from me moving the website from a paid web server to Google web pages (free, no annual charges and a permanent display site, that is, until Google chooses to do otherwise). Sadly, It’s taking taking longer for internet search engines to discover it’s whereabouts. Hopefully that will improve soon.

MessageFrom the infrequent posts. I woul opine that our numbers are declining. I want to take this opportunity to “Thank You” and Dave Norris for all of the time and effort that was spent in keeping the”Spangler”family together. You will always be my friend and shipmate. May GOD bless and keep you and may you always have afollowing wind and a calm sea.
