MessageMany memories - Caz carnivals were the best. That's when you could actually win stuff... bustin balloons with darts got me tons of southern rock mirrors, bandanas etc, and the claw game got me bean-bag ashtrays.

Interesting how things unfurl.. some people turned out to be real losers, some were always losers, some have died, some have lost children, life is short. Make the best you can with what you got. live and let live.

If anyone runs into norm perry, kick him in the teeth and when he's doubled over, ram a cactus up his ass and give a twist. thanks.

MessageI'm not from South Buffalo, but I hope someone who knows the place will take this letter as an honest request for information. I'm writing a story about someone who is growing up in the late 60s and early 70s and who lives for a short time on the east side of the park, on Teresa St. He falls in love with a girl who lives on the west side of the park, on Mercy Street. Could they go ice skating in the park, on the creek, around Christmas time? What part of the creek? Near Teresa St? Where is the part that is called the waterfalls? Where might they sit--on a rock near the creek? on a bench?--and share a first kiss? If they were not part of the "heads" or the "jocks," would they feel comfortable walking around? I have lots of other questions and would love to find someone who is willing to answer them.

MessageOhhhh, How I could write a book about those range of years hanging out in Caz Park. Lived on Edson, then on Wildwood near the golf course, but hung out there from '75 - '82 with a variety of friends as you know back then, you could hang out with a new group mixed and matched every year. Knew Tim and Huggy and Spike. Hung out with Paul G. and Tim W. and Kevin B. and owned the casino. Once sawed the lock off the girls locker room, put our own lock on it and partied inside during Fall of '78 until the cops busted us. When not at caz park, played hockey in Twin Fair parking lot with tipped over shopping carts as nets. It would take a full five years to relate all of the memories, but for starters, thought I'd make this inaugural entry into the Real Caz Park website.

Later, Coop

MessageMan what would be great if someone had some old pics of the outdoor caz pools! To many numerous nights sneaking in the pools. So weird. All the years i hung at Caz i dont have any really old pics of the park. Just now a days photos. Only had the few i posted on here! That were old. Thinking i'm gonna get a hold of some old friends and party in the park, like old times. Man i remember we use to actually sit in the falls on a hot summer night and drink and party. It was like a sauna jacuzzi. South Buffalo Style ! hahahaa. I walk through the park now a days. In some ways it feels the same. But in alot of ways it dont. Guess thats what memories are for ! Man all of Seneca St. is changing big time too. There calling it Dowtown South Buffalo now ! And hate to say it. it's starting to look more like the now a days version of Broadway on the East Side ! BAD ! Well its still nice to know though the park is still there and being kept up very well. But it aint nothing like when we ruled the park back in the day! hahahahaaa smilie

MessageHow funny to find this site while checking out Buffalo Parks online.

I and many friends partied at Caz during the mid 70's. In fact, I was just talking about this yesterday with my 16 year old daughter.

These days, I'm afraid, I wouldn't allow my kids into the park after dark. But back when we were teens, it was, at least the way I recall it, completely safe. After turning 18, we'd travel up and down Seneca to it's many bars, such as Fibber McGees. Ah...good memories.

After living away for many years, I now live in Buffalo again, very close to Caz, in fact. I have to say that I often wonder what will become of this once very fine blue collar area of town and our park.

MessageI was a park lark for years.I am periodically checking the web for a picture of the old stone bridge on the Abbott side of the park,my favorite side of the park.Oh well, maybe some night I'll just have to dig it up.I will never forgive the city of buffalo for burying this treasure.Too bad a new one can't be built in the same spot.
