MessageNice to comment on this site dedicated to the excellent Suzuki V twins.I always fancied the naked and 6 weeks ago it became possible. Great bike, the suspension seems a bit lacking in suppleness, wondering if there was any advice available. I also would like to gear it down a wee bit too.Either plus three on the back or minus one on the front...any advice? Mine has Beowulf legal cans....I've always condemned noisy bikes but this SV sounds like a chorus of angels! I really like this one and I'm hoping to keep it a long time. I'm only three years off my bus pass and my string of past sports bikes are now not comfortable, but the SV Thou still gives me plenty of thrills...especially the lively suspension!I think I'll have to ride it now I've spoke so well of it!!!!

Messagehello all the fellow twin riders. i love the sv, the power delivery and handling. im on my second sv now. i had an 03' 650s and finally found an 03' sv1000 naked! i found the bike at a local dealership after looking high and low, when i saw her the clouds parted a beam of light hit it and the angels sang! mine is silver but ive added custom made blue racing stripes and suzuki racing badges. i often visit this great site and have done several of the diy mods posted here as i will be putting real money into it this winter while its snowing. anyway thanks for the wonderful information and i will be adding some of my own later. SV 1000 RIDE NAKED!!! smilie

MessageHi,
Just visited this site for the first time, as I am considering upsizing from my SV650 to the 1 litre model.
I was hoping to read about changes in models over the years - but the "About" section seems to be missing.
I am an ICT consultant, and run my own web-server. I would be happy to host this site on my server for free - if hosting renewal is due (save some pennies). My server has MySQL, PHP 4 & 5, ASP.NET (via MONO), etc.
I would also be willing to do some work on updating and / or improving the site ( FOC of course ).
Anyhow, what I was wanting to try and find out is if the 2008 ( 08 reg. ) SV1000 I am thinking of looking at with a view to buying, is likely to have a catalytic converter fitted - as this is the case for my 2008 ( 58 reg. ) SV650 which makes it tricky / expensive to fit a replacement full exhaust system :-(

MessageMy 2005 SV1000S was put in service 1-4-06. I get about 14K on tires, wheel bearings are good for one tire. I put new skins on last night at 56,693 and the bearings are shot, again. This set is World Wide Bearings, double sealed as opposed to single sealed Suzuki. Suzuki instructs to install bearings with seals facing each other in hub, that is nuts, there are no penetrations in the hub. What is happening is the soft aluminum spacers are getting torn up by road grit at the seal/spacer junction and water ingress into the bearings eats them up. Actually no axle problems, other than nasty, but I can polish and re-grease so far. What's nuts is that the bearings are the exact same number/setup as GSX-R 600,750 & 1000 and the dealer says no problem going 60K on the bearings. No one else here in Seattle area is having this bearing problem, but no one else is riding an SV. I think only two were sold in the USA and the other crashed his. I've never seen another one.
