MessageI just want to say THANK YOU to GIGS for all of the things that he has tought me over the years. I started coming around the station when I was a baby. Dad and I used to go to the station on Friday nights and you always saw Gigs there. Yes, Gigs and I may have had our differences at times, but when it all came down to it he is someone that would listen to you if you had to talk. Some one that would give you a shoulder to cry on if you needed it. If you need to get out of the station he would take you with him to the radio station or up to one of the towers. Gigs, its hard to see a legand like you leave. You have tought me alot. If I have any questions in the future if/when I would make it to your spot. I will stand/sit there and think ( what would gigs do) Take care of yourself brother. And remember the saying as long as you ae working at LEAD and we make it on a call together.

YOU GO, WE GO Stay safe and keep in touch. smilie smilie smilie smilie smilie smilie smilie smilie smilie

MessageHello all. I was/still am a member of Friendship Engine & Hose Co #1 in the mid 1970's; in fact rookie of the year in 1976-77 (I think). There was a plaque in the lobby of McKinley St when we moved there from the point. I drove engine 1-1 and Special Unit 1 for several years while going to college in Shippensburg.
When my wife left unexpectedly, I actually lived in the bunkroom at McKinley street for several months! I was good friends with Mike Pentz, George's son. They were both LTs at the time.
Charlie Lewis and John Findlay were paid ambulance drivers in the station. "jr" goetz was a young new paid driver much to his father's chagrin. Jim Waltrip was a LT at goodwill, lived across the street from the firehouse with his mother.

Does anyone remember me or those guys?

Hope to hear from you. Ken
