MessageDestiny is inevitable. You will become what you are destined to become. Yet destiny is also your choice.

You are free to take any action you wish. And once you have taken the action, you create a destiny for yourself. Everything has consequences. We cannot change what those consequences are. Yet we most certainly can adjust our actions to bring the consequences we desire.

You have a destiny. It is being created today by your thoughts and deeds. To control your destiny, you simply control yourself. To reach a destiny of greatness, you must live with greatness.

Your life today forms your destiny for tomorrow. Your destiny is whatever you're willing to make it.

MessageABBET-RIT was formed by fire fighters from Allegheny, Beaver, and Butler Counties. They got together to discuss standardization of one Accountability System, Rapid Intervention Teams, and Communications. From the first meeting in Harmony Borough, Butler County it was recognized that this is going to be an on going feat and decided that we needed an organization that could span not only City, Borough, and Township lines but also County, and State lines.
So far ABBET-RIT has communicated with over 100 fire organizations, has trained over 100 firefighters in Rapid Intervention Crew Exercises, Standardized a way to overcome communications between counties, standardized identification of personal qualifications and have shared our accountability system with more than 4500 firefighters in Western Pennsylvania. We have received feedback on this web site from all across the country and Canada.
ABBET-RIT's goals are to continue to help educate fire organizations on the need for a standard accountability system, research and develop firefighter safety equipment and training, provide feedback to RICE instructors, and continue to break down the city, borough, township, county, and state lines that separate fire organizations.

**************************** From Administrator : Company 1 (Chambersburg) does have a Paid Professional IAFF staff of (18) career personnel. They are based out of the "main" station (Headquarters Station on North Second Street). The borough (usually) yearly does a Civil Service Testing session to obtain a list of eligible people for any vacancies. For more information on the career positions, you can see their website at www.iaff1813.org Our station is all - volunteer, and at this point, do not have any paid staff stationed here. Hope this helps and answers your question. Thanks
