The first historical record I can find for her is the 1870 census. I'd like to know who her parents were. I believe they too were born in South Carolina. |

| Message | Hello Steve.. Lowrey McNeel in Atlanta. I have enjoyed seeing your excellent work on the Ligon Family. As you may know, there is a Ligon Family Assn in the US and a number of members are going to England in June to visit the Ancestral Homeplace in Great Malvern. There is a book, One House, One Family, One Thousnd years abot the Family and Manor house. As you know, there were three successve Phoebe's: Phoebe Ligon, Phoebe Walthall, and Phoebe Featherstone. She married Irby Hudson (Rev War Vet)from Dinwiddie Cnty VA and they moved to Ga. This is my line of descent. Anyway, Best Wishes and I appreciate all of your work. P.S. The Lygons were ancestors of two US Presidnts: James Madison and Zachert Taylor. The PFA (pres Fam Assn) is interesting group. |
