MessageBobby,

Good talking to you today at the Polk St House, or what is now left of it. Looks like you guys did a lot of work to get that impressive wheel out of the riverbank and I am duly impressed with the whole endeavor. Great work, hopefully I will get up to Richmond and see the exhibit sometime. If you are ever driving around downtown again, stop by 1002 Wise Street, especially if it's a weekend. I will most likely be there for much of the coming year restoring the 1840's house.

Keep up the good work.

MessageDear Bobby,
Again, we thoroughly enjoyed meeting you and your family today at the Virginia Historical Society. smilie I know you are very proud of the work that you and your dad have done to find such an amazing (and enormous) piece of history. Thanks for your time today. Your personal narrative relayed your passion for our country's history as well as your family. Joey is a reflection of that passion. What a legacy you will leave! We are glad that you decided to donate the water wheel to VHS instead of the Smithsonian where it would be placed in a box in a back room somewhere. smilie
We wish you continued fun, awesome experiences and moments that take your breath away as you seek the treasures that unlock our past.
Sincerely,
Beth, Jerry and Grayson

MessageBobby,

My dad (Frank) told me about this website. I'm very interested in history. I can't believe that this mill goes back to the 1700's. I would like to see the things on display some day.

Thanks for your hard work (and your helpers)

MessageI read with great interest the efforts to research, excavate and provide for the citizens of Pittsylvania County and Virginia a real piece of history. I grew up in Pittsylvania County and I am always interested in well documented efforts to teach the county history.

MessageHey you mill fans! The Beavers' Mill waterwheel and associated artifacts will go on display at the Virginia Historical Society Museum in Richmond, Virgnia on July 22, 2006. The new wing exhibit with the theme "Virginian at Work" will have the 16-foot waterwheel mounted on a wall with the iron and wooden items nearby. smilie
