It is expected that they will receive tips and whatever they get belongs to them. Please, if you can afford $16 for pizza, you can surely pay the delivery person $2.50 for bringing it to your door. The driver is, in essence, your waiter on wheels. They use their own car. They work hard to give you the convenience of delivery to your door and take on added costs because of the job. Since you appreciate the service, please tip the driver. The customary tip is • 15% or $2, whichever is greater • 20%+ for excellent service • less for poor service, such as 5% or 10% • slightly more in bad weather and for distances over 3 miles from the store The tip is not included in the bill and it is not covered by a delivery charge if the store has one.
