MessageFantastic! Your site brought back many happy memories of working at the GPO/BT from 1970 to 1991.I worked in Birmingham as a maintenance jointer,(hairy arse).I now work as an installer in Vancouver for Telus.I miss the cameraderie of the old days when you could have fun and take the piss,(in a friendly way),without being threatened with disciplinary action and all that crap. The wankers here spout "team player" but haven't got the slightest clue what that really means. They try to set us against each other to divide and conquer! Wish I was back in my Bedford TK frying bacon and egg and pissing in the "wok"! Cheers, Alan Cunningham.(Ace)

MessageI too saw Deep Purple @ Knebworth in '85. A most awe inspiring thing. I remember it rained all day until Purple came on about 9.30pm if I remember correctly. Smoke on the water, with those huge banks of speakers on the hill. A very fond memory indded. It's a shame there's no film. I saw them again about 3 years ago @ the NEC in B'ham. Another great concert

MessageDennis - great site; love the stories. I started as an apprentice in Norwich in 1976 so we are of the same vintage. For my sins I still work for the company albeit very different from when we started. What makes me smile is that when we used to hear the stories from the "old characters", we now have and recite our own to the amusement of others - I have become an old character myself. Best wishes. Dave

MessageI read your articles with great and fond memories, some were new to me, and others were reminders, as Reg Dingley was my stepdad and he had related some of the tales to me years ago.

Nice site Dennis, and well done (altho some of the colour schemes are a little difficult on the eye)

Regards
Mike.

I stumbled across you site trying to find a BT card insert for my 8746 drring drring phone. read some funny sories and also the more humbling story of the amputee Para. We could all review our situations through other peoples stories, and remember just how fortunate we often are. Even when we think we`ve had a bad day! I was a customer services manager for many years on new build homes and I can vouch for the fact that most customers are 'interesting'... The thing that always stuck me more than any other, was how ordinary my home life was in comparison to that of some of my customers...
