| Message | KROY: It's almost 2008 and I'm on the internet seeking contact info to KROY Radio not realizing it vanished from the airwaves in 1982. I was raised on KROY. That was the closest we could get to a colored station. Most of what I know about music is based on growing up with the artists they played. That is how I first heard the beatles, Marvin Gaye, the Surpremes, Louis Armstrong, and Santana, and most everybody else I love to this day. But I wanted to know about Jimi Hendrix. My memory tells me it was 'Wild Thing' back in '67, but it may have been some other JH tune they initiated on KROY. I graduated from Burbank in '76 and left Sac in '77 basically, I've been on the east coast ever since. Anyway, I was just trying inquiring about the first Jimi Hendrix song KROY ever broadcast because that is when first connected to Jimi. I'm not saying KROY was the greatest station in the world but that's all we had to listen to, or KRAK which played nothing but Country music, which we got tired of. Maybe I should contact KRAK. | Message |  Listened to KROY mainly from '68 to '70 and met several of the KROY DJ's. I worked with KROY DJ "DUDLEY - aka Bill Thompson" at KAOR in Oroville in 1969. Met "Hal Murray" when he worked at KMYC in Marysville in 1969. Met the great "Bob Sherwood" in late 1969 when he gave me and my friend Scott Roberts a tour of KROY. What a blast it was to meet these guys! KROY has to be my favorite AM Top 40 station of all times. KROY, and stations like, her made you feel they were really a part of your community. Not like now when everything is so canned and phoney. Best wishes to all KROY folks who brought so much fun to the airways so many years ago! |

| Message | I was born in Woodland,Ca.in 1963. Grew up AND was raised in Roseville& SACRA-TOMATO. I STILL remember KROY KARES-ABOUT YOU. I live in Tucson,Az. But my heart is still a SAC CHICK. FRUITRIDGE MOVIE DRIVE-IN. And downtown Sac. K-R-O-Y I can STILL hear that JINGLE. I think it was KROY who brought to life-that song CAST YOUR FATE TO THE WIND. And the LEFT BANKES songs WALK AWAY RENEE-PRETTY BALLERINA. Just to name a few. Thank KROY for giving me such wonderful CHILDHOOD memories. AND I STILL "KARE" ABOUT U! |

| Message | I remember the "kidnapings" associated with Sac State. They had Johnny Hyde trapped in the studio for more that 36 hours as I recall. My friend Geoff (always thought that was a funny way to spell "Jeff" and I decided to bust Johnny out. We broke through the door (after one of the frat guys was dumb enough to open it for us), but the frats lost all taste for a fight when they found out we meant business. They gave up their occupation of the station and Johnny finally got a chance to go home, clean up, and eat a propper meal. They say that no good deed goes unpunished though, and Geoff got a speeding ticket that night on Arden Way. We went to court and beat it, though. Back then, the building KROY was in and the old Sears were just about the only thing on Arden Way in that part of the city. Ahh...the good old days! Glad to hear that Johnny is still alive and kicking and also good to hear that the Wonder Rabbit is still in the industry with Channel 6. I was unaware, and it's nice to know. Also sorry about all the "In Memoriams" Lost a lot of good people. Take care all KROY forever! |

| Message | Hello Bonnie Cooper Ogden here. I noticed that my pal Mary Rudolph Stouffer and I were not on the roster. Mary and I worked at KROY doing Merchandising and Promotion. I worked there 1960 to 1964. Mary worked there longer, probably until 1968. We had so much fun I hesitate to call it a Job. We did so many zany things. Among them: I rode a Camel (in tights) from17th street to 5th St and back in a parade. I did the same route as Lady Godiva another year (also in tights, flesh colored of course.) Painted and Elephant Green for St Patricks Day, and drove a two front end car al over town. What fun! |
