MessageWhat a gem to stumble upon this site! I worked as the assistant engineer under Bill McCray and Kent Randals from about 1977 'til about 1980 and what a time I had! I grew up (so to speak) listening to KROY and Casy Kasems AT40 countdown then on KCRA and then K-108. As a kid I dreamed of working for KROY and one day work with Casey. I was fortunate to be able to do both along with many other great radio entertainers, engineers, sales folks and managers. I never thought that I would still be working in the business some 30 years later. Now life is bringing me back to Sacramento and I hope to be able to be able to catch up with some of my old KROY friends.

MessageKROY was without a doubt my favorite radio station in the mid 60's to the mid 70's. There's never been a finer bunch of DJ's at one station at the same time.

XM 60's on 6 channel's Terry "motormouth" Young should do one of his Friday special with KROY.

I remember the Sac State Herky kidnapping and how much fun everyone had all week long in Sacramento listening to Johnny Hyde who was being held captive in the control room at KROY by Sac State Students. Those were the days when we could get away with this kind on fun stuff and no one got their panties in a bunch.

MessageKROY was the first rock station I ever listened to. After WW II, my father was one of engineers who worked out at the transmitter before it was automated. (The transmitter was about a mile from our house.)

Glad to see you KROY is still around, even if it may only be on the internet for all I know.

MessageI will never forget KROY because I live at 3527 64th Street right behind the KROY Tower on KROY WAY,our TV Set used to pick-up the signal. But Today the tower is gone. I remember a lot of the DJ's Martin Ashley, Chuck Roy, Jack Hammer and Donavan Blue who I address envelpoes for inside the studio. And Martin Ashley, I helped guard his Studio Heavenly Recording in Oak Park next to Made-Rite Sausage Co. When I was A Burns Secuirty Guard.I will try to get in touch with Martin some day soon. When I was on the rock island train ride to Lathrop, and help pass out goodies and Seven-Up on that train ride. Listen To KROY from 1965 to 1980. Loved All The Music! Great web Site!

MessageGreat site. KROY has always fascinated me though by the time I was old enough to listen to radio KROY's hay days were over. I have worked with a few former KROY staffers and some that were accross town at KXOA trying despratly to beat KROY. There are some great stories behined this station.
