MessageHello from the Wirral,.I am tracing my Mothers paternal family who all seem to have lived and worked in and round Dilton Marsh area . They all seemed to have been woollen cloth weavers.I have the record of my great Grandfather, Moses scott and his Wife Eliza.(Street address on the 1881 census was Lowden)I have also found his father David (1851)census and his father Benjn( I think) 1841 cenus.
I was able to visit Dilton Marsh in October very briefly and am hoping to return next Spring. In the meantime I would love to find out more, if any one, could possibly have any information and time to contact me it would be wonderful. smilie

MessageMy three time great grandfather Samuel Morris 1806-1892 was a cordwainer in Petticoat Lane and White Croft. His son Jehu Morris, also a cordwainer, 1840-1922 left Dilton Marsh and went to London.

MessageHi All
loved the site and reading the comments. My folks emigrated to Oz in the 30's but all returned some years later except for my father (thankfully) and one of his brothers. Still have relatives in Dilton/Westbury and surrounds who we visited in 2001. had an absolute ball meeting them for the first time and visiting places I had only heard about.
Cheers
